hi there,
anyone got any suggestions on where to park (and how much it costs) as an alternative to the odyssey car park on an events night.
have done the odyssey car park before and while it is relatively cheap when you pre-pay it is a nightmare to get out of and has taken us up to an hour on previous occassions.
don't want to park on the long straight road leading up to dee street as I have friends who have had their cars broken into during an event.
thanks for your help!

I park up The Mount & either hoof it or get a taxi.0

You could park in the City Centre then hoof across the bridge towards McHughs. Either that or park elsewhere and get a taxi but even taxis will have trouble getting towards the Odyssey at the end of an event.0

If you go past the TQ flats then there are a number of car parks which are used by business people through the day without fee. Mind you, I have noticed some signs up lately that might indicate someone is moving in to collect dosh...Always overestimating...0

If you're there early enough, there's a wee 'lay-by' just at the end of the off-slip from the M3 (just before you would turn left to go to the Odyssey car park). It's also very handy for making a quick getaway at the end. Comes in particularly useful for ice hockey games, since it's not as busy then as it would be for concerts.0

Never even noticed that before - that is a good shout!0 -

I would have thought that this could still be classed as the hard shoulder? I realise the end of motorway signs are back about 100m but as its the same type of surface and you have to cross a solid white line to get to it is that legal?Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

Yes, that's the one, and it's perfectly legal, as it's no longer the motorway and there are no double or single yellows to stop anyone parking there. And if I'm not mistaken, it's only a solid white line in the *centre* of the road (or between lanes) that you're not allowed to cross.
The only drawback is that you have to be careful when opening the doors on the driver's side. :-)0 -

Fair doo's.
Yes, it looks as if it would be a tight squeeze to open the door safely!!Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

We park at Victoria Square, it's a set price for the eve abt £3/4 and not too far a walk. You can have t in vic square too. There are normally loads of people walking back over the bridge to city centre too so safe.0

that is a good idea!
went onto the q-park website and it is a flat evening rate of £3.50 after 5pm which is great because it leaves some time to get dinner. Open 24 hours and cctv which is great too.
looks to be around 15 min walk to the odyssey which is grand as I have sat for an hour trying to get out of the odyssey car park before after an event.0
