baby in kirkham

did you see the news about the baby found in Kirkham, it is about a 5 minute walk from me, and my grandson is a mionth old

this town has about 9000 inhabitants

The national websites had a picture of police tape across a council estate, when, in fact, the baby (god bless), was found in the very rural, beautiful, countryside in which we live- 2 mins fields, 10 mins coast.

Steryotipical, but we are not ethnic minorities in the north.

What do you mean about ethnic minorities? Do you mean that council estates are full of ethnic minorities? Do you mean that there aren't ethnic minorities in the north? Please elaborate!

  • That is EXACTLY what I was thinking...what on Earth have ethnic minorities got to do with anything?
  • I think the OP is loosely trying to connect the baby girl found in the stream and the abandoned baby girls of India.

Well that's the only connection I can make of that garbled post.

    From the BBC website
Lancashire Police said the baby is believed to be a white girl who had not been born prematurely. The child is thought to be up to one month old.

Why OP are you going on about ethnic minorities? Is it only ethnic minorities who live in the council estate on the news?

I interpreted it to mean that the news have taken a picture of a poor side of the town, when really it is a nice area to live - rural and close to the beach.

Not entirely sure where ethnic minorities fit in, maybe they live in the council estate?

Anyway, its a tragic story. RIP little one.

yes, this bit doesn't make much sense.. ?

Regarding the rest, I haven't seen or read the story, but I guess it's right that the media do misrepresent things.

I think OP was trying to say that us Northerners are portrayed stereotypically as living in rough 'Its grim oop North' estates and treated as a 'minority' by the mainly London based media - perhaps not tactfully put by the OP but they do have a point!
People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I live next to a council estate in the North and news like this would be just as shocking here!! Obviously! I find the last sentence of the original post really quite offensive.

And I think shewas pointing out that the media had shown pictures of a council estate rather than where the child was found.
Still a strangely worded post that I'm not sure I understand or feel comfortable with.
