Beware Budget Insurance

I took out insurance last year with Budget Insurance after doing a price comparison check.

Roll on a year and my insurance was due for a renewal again, checked the comparison sites once again and found that Churchill was quoting a much cheeper price, great I thought so took out my new insurance with churchill.

A week went later I checked my online banking and notice a payment for £770.10 had been taken by Budgetinsurance, they had renewed my insurance with out notifiying me. (I'm now insured by two company's)

I have since had many converations with Budget trying to get my money refunded and cancel the policy they have set up. It's been like trying to push water up hill.

Apparently Budget have a policy where they will automatically renew your insurance and take money from your bank account without you confiming you actually want your insurance to be renewed.

3 weeks later I'm still trying to get my £770 back from Budget Insurance I've sent them proof of my new insurance and other documents they asked for but they say they never received them, I feel like I'm banging my head against the wall.........

STAY CLEAR OF BUDGET INSURANCE THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE.
And check your insurance is not automatically renewed!!!

Did you read the letters they sent, does it mention anywhere that the quoted price will be automatically renewed on such a date ?

The renewal notice came after they had already renewed the insurance they said when I questioned the fact they had renewed with out my authorisation" it was on page 4 of the policy documents they had sent to me last year".
This is no better than a scam if they hide something as important as this in the small print...I just want people to be aware of this practice.

  • I think most insurance is like this. I just got my renewal email and letter saying it will be charged at the qyoted price automatically unless I inform them otherwise.
