EDF bill query
Hi, apologies in advance for the stupid question.
I have a query about my edf bill. I have recently submitted my gas and electricity readings, having forgotten for 3/4 months (oops!). My bill shows that EDF owe me £383 ( amount is £383.89 cr) and have reduced my dd from £92 to £89. I have tried to phone edf to query when I will receive this money, but after 30 minutes on hold, I gave up.
So my question is, will I receive this amount on the 18/10/11, which is the date when the bill is 'due', or will I receive this amount when I eventually leave edf?
Thanks in advance

That amount will stay there and cover your winter usage. If in April/May or whenever you get the last winter bill you still have credit then ask them to send it to you. I'd get the DD reduced further in the meantime.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Credit balances in excess of £150 at the "spring annual review" are automatically refunded, but not credit balances at the mid-term review.
A late summer balance to cover the winter heating season is "normal", however the issue is whether the calculation will correctly result in a "zero-balance" come the "annual review". It is impossible to say from the figures posted, but I have not seen any forum posts reporting "correct" Direct Debit review (due to serious Edf billing system problems).
You can if you wish ask for a detailed calculation, alternatively you are entitled to ask for, though not guaranteed to get, some of the balance refunded.
Of course you need to make contact and that is not easy. My recent experience was that call wait times on weekday mornings were coming down (less that 10 minutes a couple of weeks ago) but email response times are still failing the 10 working day target.
Up to you really what to do. Perhaps "set a trap" by sending an email on the issue, asking for a detailed calculation. Then pursue a "10 day failure" through the Complaints process. If you get fed up waiting, try a morning call, though I do not think it is easy for customers to understand the "review numbers" during a phone call.
You mention "leaving Edf". Are you currently switching or planning to? When/if you switch you will either be refunded a credit balance or have to pay any final debit balance. "Balances" do not transfer. There is clue there to one way of getting hold of your balance if you put that objective ahead of the tariff costs.0 -
Where did you get this from?

I can't see any reference to a "spring annual review".0

I can't see any reference to a "spring review".
Indeed there isn't which is why that is not, and never was, my argument. My argument seeks a "position" on the term "annual review" as it applies to my account. In the case of Edf, I asked the question, on my account what was the date of the "annual review". An Edf customer services manager informed me it was "April". Personally I am content with that subject to satisfactory first year alignment.
Other customers must make their own determination of "annual review" date and hold their supplier to it if they are so minded. You can do what you like. Am I right that are now with Edf (or is it Scottish Power)? If Edf I predict, if you ask, you will be informed it is April, but that is for you to determine and agree for your account. Frankly I'm not boverred.
I'm not going back to yesterday's debate because I have more useful contributions to make today and going forward, but the actions of all the suppliers in conducting annual and interim reviews are not "in spite of" the regulations but are "because of" the regulations. Just like "deferred discount" the industry has designed a response. If the response is not "compliant" then I assume Consumer Focus and Ofgem are looking on.0 -
Gosh you talk in riddles.
You give advice to the OP that there is a "spring annual review". As you know that is what you were still debating with Directdebacle on the other thread.
As far as I am concerned, I have just looked at this from basic principles and by already looking at the EDF website you quoted in support.
Now you confirm there is no such 'spring annual review'
I have no idea why you have entrenched yourself with a peculiar stance. After challenging DD and myself to some extent on the other thread, it is you who have suddenly withdrawn from the debate with someone who took time to fully respond to you.0 -
I would think you've got a choice.. either ask for the money back and pay the new DD rate of £89 a month or leave the credit with them and ask for the DD to be cut substantially. I would think the second of these is easier to do.0

I missed this argument. I will have to go look.Gosh you talk in riddles.

Just to muddy the waters I've just had what they call the mid-year review or something similar so my annual review with EDF will be in the.. er spring. I expect to have left them by then though so it won't be
