Obviously i cant go on the comparison websites as i have nothing to change form or compare to??
anyone have ideas on who is the cheapest for gas/elec at the moment/dual fuel etc.
also, is there a site to use if you are not comparing or changing i could look on to give me costs?

thanks in advance.:rotfl:

It isn't obvious to me. If the site asks for your current supplier and tariff, just pick one at random. Then estimate whether you will be a small / medium or large user. Ignore whatever it says is the saving, but it will still tell you what the cheapest is.

"have a 2 bed flat.........." Is this an existing flat that was rented/owned by someone else prior to you ?

If so, it will have a current Utilty supplier who will tell you what the Kwh consumption figures were for the previous year - Armed with these you can visit Switch sites with genuine data

Exactly, use the existing supplier/tariff, whom you will be in a deemed contract with anyway. You can't switch until you have registered with the existing supplier.
There is no national 'cheapest supplier', it depends on area, usage, and many other factors. All the big six have now announced their increaases, so it's a level playing field at present.
Your only real decision is whether you want a fixed or variable tariff, the comp site will do the rest for you.

I suggest you try OVO - new(ish) supplier, NOT on all comparison websites (I found them ONLY on the Daily Mail website.
For my area (Eastern) and knowing my usage, they were the cheapest by far, fixed for a year (runners-up were Scottish Power and EDF - OVO beat them by >£200 a year)
Straightforward single rate charges, lowest Standing Charges of all suppliers, online billing/readings, and they pay 3% interest on credit balances!
0800 contact no, efficient customer service - what more can you ask??

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

OVO are on all the main comp sites. but not often far enough up the ratings to appear in the first pages.
I find it hard to believe that they can be £200 cheaper on a fixed tariff, would you care to post your kWh figs so someone can cross check that?

It is TOP of my list!

Ovo New Energy Fixed is £1,005.80 for medium use.
    £31.15 more expensive than E.On SaveOnline 9.

Standing charge about £130 a year for dual fuel, versus £200 for E.On.
Gas unit charge a bit high.

I stand corrected, the above fix is also now coming out second on my list (below EDF Fix for 2012).
Don't understand why the yabbadoo says they do not appear on most comp sites. must be filtering them out due to payment options selected maybe?
