Its a roadbike that ive got, normally average 13 mph on any sort of ride. Where i live is mostly hilly, however will chose to go the flatest way to work and hit the hills on the way home.I work in Council Tax recovery, any views are purely my own based on the information supplied.0

I average about 13mph over 17 miles on a (cheap) road bike when i do it. Having said that I've only started again quite recently and am far from fit0

I cycle in about 3 miles each day, most of it off road. I take a set of clothes in on Friday, and bring home that weeks "used clothes" later that day. If you keep the effort level down to "leisurely", you won't get too sweaty.
One thing worth doing is making sure you have a very basic repair kit at work - I recommend keeping a spare inner tube there and the means to fit it as you will get punctures from time to time.
Also make sure you have some spare batteries for your lights to hand - its a pain in the backside when you leave to go home and find out you have left one of the lights on all day.
Not wearing a helmet keeps you a lot cooler, but let's not open that can of worms.0 -
Fight the urge to "go for it" and treat the commute like a race, that's a good way to work out but not a good way to stop yourself sweating.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0
