Sorry, but I find all the jokes about their toilet paper invoices to be a bit crap. Such a strain just to read them, and then they drive me round the u-bend.

this has got to stop. I'm not on a 'pedestal' as such, but if this keeps up I'll be forced to ask my MP to table an early day 'motion' (if he can get off his 'stool' in the commons bar). takes a long time to get anything 'passed' at that level, though.

    I'll still get me coat.

If that doesn't work, forward it to the old lady Elizabeth, who I believe has been sat on the throne for a long time now.

A most interesting & entertaining piece by Private Eye (a journal worth every penny of my subscription).

I find the last paragraph particularly revealing :-

When Mr Cutts contacted the British Parking Association to draw its attention to Excel's latest court slapdown, the association said the signs at the Peel Centre, considered inadequate by the judge, met its code of practice.

    (my bold).

This from an association which aspires and is striving hard to be taken seriously as a potential arbiter in an independent(sic) appeals procedure.

Sadly HMG believes the BPA's particular brand of bullpoo..here's what Lib Dem MP Tom Brake said in the House only yesterday !!
If parking operators want keepers’ details from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, they have to be members of the British Parking Association, which will ensure a high standard.

Slight correction to the last paragraph:
When Mr Cutts contacted the British Parking Association to draw its attention to Excel's latest court slap down, the association (represented by Excel's very own MD Simon Renshaw-Smith) said the signs met Excel's - err, I mean the BPA's - code of practice.
