I feel for you, you can't please everyone & to be honest I'd have though that the people who don't like wine would have some with the meal as it's provide. If the venue don't serve the draft beer there nothing you can do & they will just have to have something else, sure there will be something they drink served at the bar.Married the man of my dreams - 10th September 2012, St Paul's Bay Lindos :jIt was amazing.

Give them a ring...You wont be the first person to ask to substitute a regular drink for your grandads tipple...we had to take 4 cans of cider to our venue for mine!....
I think what you have ordered is fine for all your guests and to be honest if any of your guests want anything different then they could always pay for a pint or two from the bar...but if you want to treat your grandad then why not...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Most venues will do at least one draft beer, I'm sure, even if it's just a keg sat on the bar.
If they don't - oh well, granddad's going to have to settle for a cup of tea...0 -
Sooner you ring them the sooner you'll know whether it's an issue or not!0

I'd be tempted to say that you're too busy to sort it out - that the hotel information was written on the invitations and if she'd like to make enquiries on their behalf she's more than welcome to.0

and if they don't do it draft? is this an ultimatum where they won't come?! mad and rude to even ask the question. i also find it utterly ridiculous that draft beer is ok but bottled beer in a glass is somehow not.losingpatience wrote: »Well she's said they won't drink bottled beer and she would like them to be able to have a drink so I think she expects me to somehow provide draft beer!
just say you don't know and there's nothing you can do at this point anyway so tough (or, in reality, adopt the diplomatic approach from MaggieBaking and move on..... i know what i'd want to do but i also know what the right thing to do is!!):happyhear0 -
Risking getting my head bitten off here. BUT, I would love to have the worry of having to ask because my Grandad only wants draft beer. Surely it's only one phone call. Be greatful he's coming and still on the mortal coil?Married the lovely Mr P 28th April 2012. Little P born 29th Jan 20140

I don't even know what draft beer is, but I think I've figured it out from the thread!
Why on earth can't people drink bottled beer just for one night?:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -
I would either ignore the question completely or tell them you dont know and that you have more important things to think about. If they dont do it on draught then you cant do anything about it anyway so little point in wasting your time finding out! x0

I know a lot of people dont actually think about how hectic it is planning a wedding when they ask about all these little things and it can be a right pain, I know I got fed up with it all.
Maybe you should ask your mum to contact them herself and ask as you are so busy, the venue may be accomodating even if they don't normally serve it they may be able to sort something out.
I have to say it did make me a little sad though reading your post, my dad (who sadly is no longer with us, and it would have meant the world to me if he could have been at my wedding
) would have been exactly the same, he was not a wine drinker and would only drink draught guiness, anything else would give him a really bad stomach.
Maybe your grandad would probably just like an idea whether he is going to be able to have a little drink or not, not expecting you to provide something different to everyone else (but then again you know your family so maybe he is!)
I think you've been very generous with your drinks for your guests though, but you can't always please everyone!
