Hi,
I am thinking of getting my DSD (16) and DS (12) a netbook each for Christmas but only if I can find them for under £80 each...
I have seen the Disgo 3000 on ebay and the epc 7 inch netbook elsewhere but all seem to have mixed reviews
basically they have smart phones but I need something that they can do basic homework on i.e. Word/Excel etc and then of course web browsing and email. not fussed about itunes as neither have an ipod.. but must be able to use a USB memory stick and connect to the internet on WiFi...
does anyone have any good suggestions?

My suggestion would be that whatever you get for under £80 probably won't be much good.
For example the Disgo is based on a long-dead version of Windows CE. Browsing probably won't be much fun on a 7" screen, and it probably won't render anything Flash-based properly. And it probably won't be very reliable - had you noticed how many faulty ones are being sold on eBay?0 -
Under £80=stinking pile of cack based on a processor nobody has heard of running Windows CE which was designed for cash machines, washing machines and internet connected fridge freezers.
Please double the budget. You get a whole load more for your money.0 -
They wouldn't thank you for buying them a load of rubbish.
Had a quick look at the spec and it implies that you get a Word and Excel viewer, not a proper program for actually doing anything practical such as homework. It would take them so long to do anything useful in terms of homework that they would be frustrated beyond belief after the first 30 minutes of use.
You get what you pay for. Take the advice of Hammyman above and start by doubling your budget and also ask them what they would use them for.0 -
As above. At absolute minimum, you can get older netbooks on occasion for £135 (e.g. Argos Ebay Outlet) with a one year warranty.
They might enjoy something like an Archos 101 tablet:

Currently for roughly the same price you can get an older netbook (funky purple):

Or this 'pink':
