Anyone been All Inclusive to Tenerife?

Thinking of going for a 10 day holiday mid August to tenerife (or any were thats hot!) but not sure if it's worth going AI or not? Been AI in Dominican a few years back and was good but you couldnt go outside of the hotel. In tenerife there's loads of resteraunts etc so is it worth going AI or better to go Self Catering?

Any experiences?

Thank you!

went turkey, the drinks were watered down couldnt even get drunk, the food was all for germans meat and stuff, goulash and meatloaf for dinner. plus side could eat whenever you wanted if you liked the food. drinks stop at 12 midnite and start again at 10 am. would not go ai again in europe only if goin carribean, a lot of people sais this, who stayed, not just the hotel i went to. did save money compared to self catering

    £890 2 adults 2 kids 2 weeks s.c
    £1700 spending money

    £1400 2 adults 2 kids 2 weeks ai
    £500 spending money

was cheaper to go ai in the lond run, warn you , you may be eating out some nites

yes stayed in Los gigantas ( not sure of spelling) not that good. to be honest i have been on all inclusive to all the canaries and the food was not very good best one was lanzarote this nov. also stayed in dom rep south and we could leave the hotel and go to local cafes and bars. the hilton in hurghada egypt was the best so far, went last may and got a cheap deal £450.00 per per for two weeks. work out what you think you will spend on food drinks water etc
    IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!!!:j:money:

Your right, AI would probably work out slightly cheaper but if the quality of the food etc is not good then it's not value for money.

Think im gonna keep looking, for some reason Tenerife is appealing to me, but gonna ave to think more about the AI or not!!

    Any more experiences, please post!

Only ever been SC in Tenerife. Only advice / opinion I could give is make sure you choose a high rating hotel if you do decide on AI. Some friends have stayed at the Adeje Palace which they highly recommendeded.

Went to Fuerteventura AI, 'cheapy' deal, so we weren't expecting much anyway, drinks were as above poster, watered down! Food was ok for a week, wouldn't of liked 2 weeks of it though!

Considered Cyprus? Went half board there a few years back, 'only' a 3 star hotel, but the food was out of this world. Was there in September (Protaras)last year SC, lot's of options to eat/drink out, from budget to gourmet!
:D I am in the future you know...

It depends on where in tenerife your looking at, if it is las americas or costa adeje area i would say no. As there is to much out there than to be stuck in the same hotel every night. There are loads of bars with great entertainment on. Drinks can be expensive, but then again you can get a drink for 1 euro a pint during the day. Meals you can eat out cheaply or expensive depends what you want. There are chinese restaurants that do all you can eat for £4

Also depends how many are going, if you have got kids them maybe it is something to consider,as i believe that kids can be expensive.

I personally would never go to tenerife, or anywhere in europe all inclusive. But that is just my view.

I think this is the opinion that many people have told me, If you go to Europe it's better to go SC than go AI, thanks for your replies!
  • Hi rhionm, I've tested this at our favourite Tenerife hotel, Hotel Playa De La Arena over the course of 2 years. The first was AI booked via First Choice the second booked direct as HB. They worked out as us spending roughly the same (1 adult and 2 kids (ages 12/13 and 7/8). However I expect if I had booked the second trip via First Choice it would have turned out to be more expensive as I saved over £300 by booking direct. I travel to the Canaries once or twice a year and whether I go AI or not just depends on the price. Often it's cheaper to upgrade locally if allowed (but sometimes not so worth checking).

  • I love costa Adeje... I think it depends upon how much extra you have to pay for AI .. personally i now only go SC because i got fed up of recieving "dodgy" food i also found i didnt actually eat/drink that much at the hotel beacuse i was out on "day trips" most of the time and ended up buyiing food while i was out.
