You seem to think it is ok to attempt (and fail) to make cheap vidictive comments towards others, so why are you shocked when people do the same to you?0 -

I refer you to your own post!

OP get in touch with MIND specifically their legal helpline legal@mind.org.uk 03004666463 I would be surprised if something like this has not been raised before.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, all those keyboard warriors that actually think they know better than the proffesionals.
My local MP is Andrew Selous
The irony in your statement is that the only "professional body" who has the knowledge of the laws and codes of practice relating to Gambling to make an accurate assessment/judgement of whether you have grounds for complaint or not is the ONE who disagrees with you.
Neither your doctor or MP are experts in Gambling Laws or Codes of Practice.
So to coin your own phrase.....put that in your pipe and smoke it.
You're still missing the point. No one here is disagreeing that problem gamblers should be helped. We are asking HOW problem gamblers can be identified and you cant provide an answer. Nor can anyone else. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

The problem with the OP is that, whatever they say, he will take from it the bits that support his viewpoint and ignore the rest.0 -
Look bob you need to step back and have a look at yourself. You are doing your damned finest to belittle somebody publically who has said that they are suffering from a major mental illness. Does that make you feel good? I bet it does, which is why you have the lions share of the posts in this thread, you made your point once. You think it is all my own fault and why should the gaming shops have to make decisions on who is fit to continue gambling or not. Thank you for that part of your opinion, that much was relevant even if I do not agree with the summisation.
The rest of the thread you have decided to repeat yourself and discredit anything I say in any shape way or form.
A Doctor is NOT going to tell a pacient to go and take up a legal challenge unless they have good reason to believe this is the right thing to do. Of course a doctor who is treating my mental illness has the time to listen to my thoughts, that is how they diagnose and treat the issues. My local MP also is taking me seriously.
I don't expect those to take me seriously that do not know the feelings and situations I have been through, also you seem to display a complete lack of empathy. God hope that you never end up in as dark a place as I am right now, because you would soon realise how difficult it is just to deal with yourself, never mind when somebody like you comes around to make themselves feel good at the expense of the person with the documented problems.
I hope you are proud of yourslef. Well done.0 -
I do wish you success OP in this. I think most of the replies received here haven't understood that you were playing slot machines and therefore wouldn't see that the way you were spending money, the many deposits over short time frame and amounts per deposit in relation to the maximum possible win and all over a good few months, Is a clear indication of a problem regardless of their personal financial situation.
.
To be honest petal if i dont make it to Cheltenham and spend all day flitting between the pub and the bookies I can put similar amounts in to the both the pokies and the video roulette machines in a day.
So now your saying that, even though i can afford to, I have a problem - when in actual fact i dont as i know when to stop so if they stopped me from spending my money they would lose my custom and a strongly worded letter to head office.
So again - now you have been told that other people can spends similar amounts of money in a bookies then how do you expect them to differentiate?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

We all need to take responsibility for our actions. People with bipolar make some pretty bad decisions, but in the long term you are far better to accept this and work to resolve the consequences than to keep blaming other people.
If you feel that I have discredited what you have said, it is because your thinking is flawed. If you don't like the concept of people disagreeing with you, perhaps an open forum is not the best place for you.
A doctor is not qualified to give legal advice. A doctor will not give legal advice. There seems to be a common theme of you (mis)interpreting information in order to support your viewpoint.
I don't do empathy, I do facts. I could blame that on being bipolar, but I'd rather just accept it as part of me.0 -

The OP has Bipolar Disorder and it is obvious that this thread is going nowhere. The OP needs to get specialised professional help both for gambling addition and a legal opinion on his theory that the betting companies do not meet their obligations under the various regulations."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Michael, you have serious mental health issues and I think they may be clouding your vision here. My Mum has the same problem, she admits she's mentally ill but refuses all help that doesn't suit what's going on in her head.0
