Dla/carers allowance question?

could somebody with knowledge of DLA please advise me of the following:

My friend is split up with her husband, and their child lives one week with the dad and then my friend. As my friend does not have the child 24/7she wanted to know if she is still entitled to claim full disability living allowance and carers allowance or would this be split amongst the parents. The child is 6 years old.

If you are caring for someone 35 hours a week, you are entitled to carers allowance if you meet the general eligibility criteria.
Only one person can claim carers allowance, though more than one may be caring for them 35 hours a week each.
Splitting it between the parents would be a matter to sort out between themselves.
I'm unsure of what effect this may have on any liabilities around the CSA.

also - just to point out that the DLA is for the benefit of the child - not the parents, so in fact it should be spent by whichever parent has care of the child
