Antique tea/coffee service possibly, help please

Hi dont know if this is the right place for this but it seems the closest thing to what I would like to ask, so sorry if I got it wrong.

Anyway I have 3 tea/coffee services that may have value, I just don't know. Underneath them they have stamped, Royal Standard Bone China England and Royal Albert Bone China England, Night & Day. I don't know if there is any big amounts of money envolved, probably not, but I wont put them on show at home or use them and don't want to hold on to them, I just want to try and earn some money from them. They are all in perfect condition from what I can tell.

I know I could try Ebay but without knowing what they are worth I could come unstuck and let them go for peanuts when they may be worth a lot, plus I wouldn't know what to start them at to protect myself. I have tried looking at Ebay history for a guide but cant really find anything matching close enough to guide me.

One of them, is pink with gold leaf, the next is light green with gold leaf and the Night and Day one is black with gold leaf, and when I say gold leaf I am describing what I see, I don't really know if there are different gold leafs etc.

Any help would be appreciated as to how I can find their value and who might want to buy them.

as someone from the potteries, I don't think they are particularly collectable, but they could be popular in the u.s. however I would do a bit of online research if I were you , there are plenty of websites to search in.

Can you offer any other similar forum, that one is giving an error when I click submit, something to do with CGI, anyway I found on the net that it is a common problem and not that successfully solved. I have tried to get it to work but it wont give in. So a forum like that would be good if you know any others.

I doubt if they are especially valuable as plenty were made, but there is a demand for sets in excellent condition.

I think a full Royal Albert set might be worth up to about £100 or so. That was the value placed on ours when we inherited it from MIL.

Prices probably vary enormously so check with an authoritative source and bear in mind that it will be costly to pack and post if you sell on ebay.

not only heavy to post, but also bear in mind that with a lot of mail services you are only covered for loss on glass/ceramics...and not damage.
  • I would sell all the set in small amounts, 2 cups and saucers, 2 plates etc, and only list them 2 at a time with a few weeks in between listings as you are more likely to find someone that just needs to replace a few pieces rather than by a whole set if you put multiple listings on at once you won't get a nice battle of the bidders. It will add up to more money in the end.

The set that you named isn't one of the more valuable/collected patterns like Old Country Roses, Night and Day is quite 1950's in appearance so maybe if you mention this in the titles as you might just pull a buyer that's collecting things with a 50's theme

the only problem with that is you run the risk of selling just a couple of pieces, then being left with the rest not selling, and an incomplete set.
  • I agree that it could take time till they have all gone but often all you need is one listing for 2 cups and saucers then if you're lucky you'll have 2 under bidders to send a second chance offer.

I sell china on ebay as a full timer and this is my regular sales technique, I rarely offer a full tea set for sale.
