Hi
Can you explain how to get the further 20% off at checkout. Thanks0 -
True, not that bad, but nobody in their right mind would recommend a laptop with only 1Gb RAM when it runs Windows 7. Espeically when it's running an awful Celeron Processor!
The AV may well run along doing nothing at a low rate of burn on the memory, but you run a scan and see what happens then.
I still stand by my quote, if you are buying a laptop (even paying £200) you should ensure it's future proofed and buy something that will not cause issues in 2 years time.
Any computer running a full scan will run like a pig it's nothing to do with RAM it's thrashing the hard drive and taking CPU time up. Most people (with any sense) kick off a full scan then walk away it's not something you would start then try to keep going as normal during the scan and the memory footprint of AV software in day to day terms is measured by the footprint of the on access/realtime scanner not running a full system scan which is largely unrepresentative of day to day use
What was posted wasn't not recommending a machine with 1GB it was saying it wasn't fit for anything other than the internet which is absolutely absurd.
Who says buying this laptop would cause issues in 2 years time (other than the fact it will probably have fallen to bits as it's cheap) if user x is using it for their online shopping in 2 years time what's going to have changed?
If you read my previous posts about it you would see that I said the deal for trade in and cashback make the HP 620 I posted earlier a much much better deal, almost the same money once trade in and cashback come through for a brand new laptop with 4GB RAM, 500GB HD and a decent Intel chip (which neither of the two previously mentioned have). In fact a 2nd hand Thinkpad T60,T60p(has an FireGL video card in it, very good!!),T42,T61 would be about the same money or less even if you got a 1GB one and paid for another 1GB DIMM to go in it AND would have the advantage of having much much better build quality than bottom end cheap plastic tat. This one on the bay if it goes for about what it's at now is a steal number 320764760167 (not mine nor anything to do with me just a quick search found it)
I agree with you that even at £200 it isn't a great deal BUT that isn't what your previous quote made out at all0 -
I have owned 2 Toshiba Laptops- The one my boyfriend currently uses and this exact C660 model that he bought me for my birthday. The other model we have is 3 years old and works perfectly as if it was new. The C660 is dreadful. It comes up with a message every now and then saying there's a problem with the cooling device and says to turn it off and return it to the manufacturer. I've spoken to Toshiba who have said this is a known issue. The laptop is also quite slow at times and the speakers aren't the best. At the minute, I'm having an issue with the touchpad. After the laptop being on for about 5 to 10 minutes, the touchpad stops working- it sort of doesn't go where you want the cursor to go! I have had to put the laptop in to hibernation and take it out again for it to work.. I've now resorted to using a USB mouse.
I'm sorry to slate this offer guys- it is a great offer for a short term replacement or for a seldom used laptop but for constant use the laptop is dreadful. I'm going to be replacing it after christmas.0 -
