I recently contacted callcredit in order to tell them I had changed address and registered on the electoral roll. They told me if I wanted to update the information they hold about where I'm registered on the electoral roll I would need to send in a letter from my council confirming this.
Please can someone let me know if this is my responsibility. I've been registered at the new address for over a month and this has been shown with experian for the past 2-3 weeks without me doing anything.
Thanks

I'm sure that someone more 'expert' than me will come along, but I don't believe you have any responsibility to update the CRA companies. As you have said the other two have managed it themselves. I suspect your new information will filter through to them via the normal channels, but if you want an immediate correction you need to provide evidence.0

yes I agree, however surely these companies have a responsibility to produce up to date information?0

Maybe they're asking for proof in case its a fraud thing? I know DPA says they should keep records accurate and up to date and should correct any errors, but i believe it also says they can ask for evidence that the data is incorrect and/or that you are who you say you are.
Then again, i've only read bits while looking for an answer for another MSE post. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thanks.
Yes, I'm not expecting information to be up to date to the nearest second, but over a month after being placed on the electoral roll, I think they need to get their act together. I'll give it another couple of weeks and if it's not changed then I'll prompt them again.
This shouldn't be the responsibility of consumers to up date companies on information. That's their job and what they make their business from.0 -
Give it a few months it'll appear, doesn't really matter unless you're about to apply for credit. Experian are the main CRA so better they have it than CC.0
