Anyone experience of DVLA plate auction?

Hi all

I am wanting to buy a private reg, but my name is quite common and hence any plate with the 3 letter combo in is very expensive, so i'm having to go for my initials.

BUT, I found a DVLA auction with my name in with quite a low reserve, but i have no experience of DVLA auctions. The reserve is 450...do they start low and bid as per normal auctions, or just sell it at 450, or could the bidding go ridiculous?
It's not until Dec, and i'm not sure whether its worth waiting till then if it will just end up selling for a few thousand!!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

I bought one from one of their auctions in july the starting bid on mine was £450 but i put in a bid of £600 and won it .
you could try with £450 as your max and if no one else bids you will win bit like ebay really.
Don't forget your fees on top etc
    good luck

ps the plate i bought has been valued at £7000 but i don't think its worth any where near that but will hold on to it
