My local butcher is on that list. It's won awards for its sausages apparently.

I love the shop cos there's always a sign in the window saying where the different types of meat have come from that day (farmers name and location and where the animal was killed)

Yeah she put me off burgers a while ago!

I don't eat fish fingers either - mainly due to the fact that the colouring in the breadcrumbs years ago used to make me really ill so have never fancied them since!! ;)
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Am I the only person who can't stand Gillian McKeith?- she is rude and nasty and, I kid you not, reckons she is 39 years old!!!!! She looks at least 55 if not older, so just goes to show what eating all that stuff she goes on about does for you! Back to sausages anyway - I go to a local butcher who makes his own and he doesn't put any nasties in them, but my ex OH is in the Fire Service and used to have to go on fire safety inspections of local factories and workplaces. He once went to a tannery and said that he told the manager that the place was alright but that the blubber all over the floor (the fluid and fat layer scraped from under the pigs skins) was a risk if people were hurrying out and the light was bad. The manager apparantly said that it was okay as the sausage factory usually came and took it away before work started, but they were just late that day:eek:

  • Or make your own - if you have a Kenwood Chef you can get a nozzle to go on your mincer (cheaply found on ebay) they are really easy and quite fun to make. We recently made chicken sausage with garlic and herbs, delicious!!!

Even a butcher will tell you that you can't make a decent sausage without some fat.

It's amazing how squeamish people have become over the last century. Before these days of factory farming and mass production people would have eaten every part of the animal that could possibly be consumed.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Found my butcher on the website so am well pleased as I couldnt imagine not having a Wicks Farm pork and apple sausage again - they are lovely.

Cant beleive that Gillian Mcwhatsit is 39!! I always thought that she didnt look like a good advertisement for what she preaches.
  • My goodness she's 39 !! I'm amazed, I had her down for at least 49. She's 2 years younger than me and I look younger and healthier than her, and I'm overweight :p

Absolutely loathe the woman, she talks a lot of twaddle
  • According to this, she's 47.

I do think she looks older than her age, though. Surprising, since usually people who eat a lot of unprocessed foods, fruits & veggies look much younger than their chronological age.
