Dual Fuel Pre-Payment Help!

I have had pre-payment meters since I moved in my house 6 years ago and have usually spent about £10.00 on each per week. Recently I have been putting £20.00 on each a fortnight and this will usually last.
On 23.10.11 I put £30.00 on the electric meter which would normally last a couple of weeks but I have just checked the meter and there is only £1.63 left.
I am with British Gas dual fuel and I know the prices have gone up, but this much really??
Has anyone else noticed as big an increase as this? And does anyone have any advise on who is the best provider now on dual fuel.
Going to check on comparison websites now.

Check the settings on your meter and make sure a debt has not been added erroneously.
