Car suddenly stopped?
Hi all,
My boyfriend was driving his 1ltr W reg seat arosa and the oil warning light came on and the clutch felt 'funny', he described as spongy?! Then within 30 seconds the car stopped and wouldn't even tick over.
I'm looking for a bit of advice so I know what scenarios I'm looking at when taking the car to the garage tomorrow. Any help/ideas appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Ever checked the oil? They dont run very well with no oil in them.
Im sure the clutch is a self adjusting cable operated one. Cant think why that would
cause the engine to cut out. Unless somethings worn through?

It may be that the engine has seized."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Instant catastrophic failure of the main crank shaft seal, dumped engine oil into the clutch?
More likely ran out of oil though.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

OIL PRESSURE in the engine is not the same as OIL LEVEL in the sump....."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

Ohhhhhhh, someone's thinking oil pump failure..... Or an oil filter so bunged up with crap, that it's cut the oil flow back to the head
Tis what happens when the oil/filter isn't changed regularly enough“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Didnt you know these small cheap almost throwaway hatchbacks never need servicing of any kind.
An MOT every year replaces the need for that.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Most (all?) modern filters have a bypass valve to prevent the above don't they?Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0
