thanks for your help all thins considered think i will go for the mor memory option increase from two 512 two 2gb as i have two hard drive one is 40 the other 160. the 40 0ne is reading 10.2 left on disk tried shifting programs etc to larger one. and still cannot get it lower thanks anyway...... unless you all no better will chek back monday..0

Think you need to rethink this, as GunJack says 1GB ram is sufficient, especially considering your processor.
40GB with 10GB free should be OK with XP, it's when it gets to 85% full you start to run into problems when trying to defragment.
What's on the larger drive?
Shift data (music,photos) rather than trying to shift programs.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
