Cheapest way to get a second ADSL line installed

Both my husband and I work from home and currently have both Virgin and BT broadband and phone installed.
However, in the 11 months since Virgin have installed my line, I have suffered with crackling, buzzing and squeaking on the line. They have replaced the cable to my home, fiddled about in various cabinets, replaced the internal cable and fitted a new master. None of this has resolved the issue (and yes, I have bought 3 new phones to try over the year) and they've now told me they have 'no idea' what is causing it.
I may add that this noise issue is resolved when I use our BT connection, which Virgin accept.
So I've given up, because they've now given up. So what is the cheapest way to get a second line installed? Is BT at £130 my only option?
Many thanks

Is it cable phone & BBand you have with VM,alongside your BT DSL service?...If they've changed the internal wiring, master ect,I'm wondering if they've changed the E/D side in the Mux & DP...Failing that, then I'd suggest an external drop cable re-pull be done as it could be damaged. But it sounds to me like a damaged or corroded D-Side in the DP (Cabinet) in which case a lift & shift (20 minute job) to a new E/D side may fix it.0

You dont have to have another line installed, you can use a voip provider over your cable broadband.
Look at vonage or voipfone for starters.0 -

They have done an external cable, put me to a diff cabinet, replaced the virgin bit outside that's on the wall and, as they say, "there is nothing left to replaced"
Yes, my BT is along side it. We cannot have VOIP as this is not a secure way of making/receiving calls.0 -

Mmm...for one, they can't connect you to a different cabinet,it's a physical impossibility due to the network infrastructure. My money is on the E or D side in the Mux or the D side in the cabinet.I'm wondering if they changed the E-Side,I came across this before & it was the Line Card in the Mux.A change of E-Side fixed this.0 -
I had a BT line which had been migrated to the clowns at Talk Talk and I got Sky to install another line gratis.0
