A superoffpeak return via Reading and Guildford at £29.50 is probably going to be best if you can fit in with its validity. It will be valid on any train Saturday and Sunday but there will be restrictions on Friday and Monday
You can buy on the day.
Only two train companies, not that that has much relevance.0 -
This was for next saturday returning next sunday, so 8th to 9th. Swindon-Basingstoke is £7.50 advance single, Basingstoke-Swindon is for some reason £11.00 advance single. Basingstoke -> Woking it seems you can't buy a two day return, but then a single is £9.70 'anytime' outbound, and £9.60 'offpeak' return.
So that comes to £37.80.
For a day return Basingstoke->Woking is £10.80 but then a day return Swindon-Basingstoke is £22, which is more than the advance singles.... It doesn't for some reason offer the advance singles option if you choose a day return, even though there is also a £5 advance single option.... Any ideas how these advance singles are priced/sold?0 -
Advance Singles are available each way from Swindon to Farnborough North for £8.00 upwards on your dates.
An Anytime Single from Farnborough Main to Woking is £4.00.
Same in other direction.
A short walk, less than one mile, from Farnborough North to Farnborough Main is needed though.
So return trip can be done for £24.00, with a bit of exercise thrown in.
Info from Southern Railway website.0 -
Advance singles are priced per individual journey - there will be several different tiers for each journey, so outward and return may not cost the same. And the fare for a particular trip will go up as the day of travel approaches as a particular tier sells out
Not sure why you weren't shown the singles option when looking for day returns - maybe you didn't display all the options?0
