Is Notice of Redundancy different to Contractual Notice Period?

Hi
I'm new the forum and hoping someone might be able to help me!
I've been given an "At Risk" letter by my employee. We are a small company (only 24 employees), and 17 people have been given "At Risk" notifications, but so far we don't know how many people are likely to be made redundant.
My question is, my contract of employment says that both parties have to give 6 MONTHS notice. I've been with the company for 6 years, so understand my statutory notice period to be 6 wks, but if my contract says 6 months is my employer obliged to give me a full 6 months notice, or PILON?
Thanks in advance!

Yes, if your contract states that your employer has to give you 6 months notice of termination then that's what they must do.
Whether you are required to work your 6 months notice or receive PILON may be stated in your contract or agreed between you.
If you are made redundant, unless your contract promises more, you'll also be entitled to redundancy pay (1/2 - 1+1/2 weeks pay depending on your age) for each complete year of service and any accrued untaken holiday pay.0 -
Thank you! That's what I thought, but value a second opinion so that I'm prepared if and when I get called in to a room to discuss redundancy!!0
