Brilliant programme - I do forage for some stuff, we get excellent wild fruit around here but I know I couldn't do roadkill, if I had someone who could gut stuff then we often see pheasant lying at the side of the road near in-laws and I have joked about stopping the car, there's tonights tea but I know I couldn't do it.

Fergus said this last night, must be true I guess?

If you look at his website - https://www.wildmanwildfood.co.uk - you will see that his main focus isn't roadkill, and I feel it's kind of a shame that it was so focused on for the preogramme - I was interested in the sea beet pie, but they didn't really say anything about sea beet at all.

I agree Trow - I found it really interesting as I'm into the whole wild food thing. I'm sure there will be a book out - but i'll check out his website.

I think it's got something to do with poaching - otherwise everyone would be aiming for deer rather than avoiding them.

I watched some of it. My parents couldnt believe it when I said I was a member of a board of people on the net who would actually consider doing it.

Did you realise though that that guy didnt actually save any money because he spent so much of it on petrol driving around looking for his food. I'd rather stick to the supermarket thanks.

Although he did cycle as well, and the most meat came in when he started networking with people who were out and about anyway
  • Looking forward to it! There was a roadkill pheasant offered on Freecycle by a vegetarian cyclist just before christmas :D  He didn't post back to say whether it was taken or not.

  • I used to work with a chap who collected road kill pheasants on his way to work. He only picked up the ones that had head injuries and he hung them in an unused room in our office building. Imagine my shock when it was decided to use that room and I nearly walked into a hanging pheasant!!!!
