Travel insurance help please! 6 week holiday.

Hi,

I am a 27 year old female (with no health problems); and I am going to Morocco in November for 6 weeks, and am looking for a reasonable travel insurance quote.

I have noticed that most policies only cover short holidays e.g. up to 30 days, but as I am going Nov 14th-Dec 24th, these wouldn't be suitable.

The only 'dangerous' activities I will be doing on the holiday, will be surfing and hiking etc.

Can anyone recommend a good, and preferably cheap policy that I could buy for this please? Or perhaps even a reasonably priced annual policy that covers longer trips.

Thanks very much in advance :)

xx

I think that you must have been looking at annual policies, most of which limit each trip to 30 days.

Look again, specifically for single-trip insurance, and you will have no difficulty finding the cover you need.

European single trip insurance for the dates you quote for about £20 (excluding extreme sports) at direct-travel.co.uk

The cover that the OP will require is worldwide (excluding USA), which works out more expensive at £41 for budget or £51 for their standard cover.
Surfing may be covered, but you have to contact them to confirm this.

Some insurers may treat Morocco as being part of Europe, which would obviously bring the cost down. So this is something worth checking.

I agree, but I was just correcting the figures given by robby2k9 as the insurer that they mentioned doesn't count Mororro as Europe.

If you're going to have any other holidays in the next 12 months, it's probably worth getting the annual policy rather than single-trip.

An annual policy with insureandgo, you have the option of up to 30 days, 45 days or 60 days at different premiums. I usually go for the 45 days as I sometimes go away for longer than a month. It's just over £60 with an excess waiver, which I think is pretty good value
  • If they think Morocco is Europe could you trust their judgement!

Try backpacking websites like endsleigh, STA etc. I did a round the one trip once in 6 weeks and booked with someone like that.
