MBNA - Cash Back Card (1.5 for supermarket/petrol and 0.5 for rest)

Has anyone got one of these?

I currently have and use as my main card to get the discount and pay back. Yet I have just calculated my cash back and believe it to be incorrect based on the MCC they use and the percentage.

From what I calculate I am £4.897 worse off from what they calculate. I have emailed them and they looking into it.

But just wondering if anyone else found this?

Are you a heavy shopper at Asda online?

Reason I ask is that there have been some issues reported on here.

I do my weekly grocery shop with Asda online.

Taking my September statement for example:

Total Spend 1706.58 362.89
My Calculation 8.5329 5.44335
Received 8.27 4.49


0.5 spend followed by 1.5 spend

Your OP mentioned 1.5% cashback, ie that which is given with the MBNA Amex card.

Your MBNA Visa cashback card pays only 1.25% cashback doesn't it?

Either way, it's possible the Asda online MCC errors are common to both cards so don't dismiss it too hastily.

Opps you are correct, it is 1.25%. My fingers was too quick. But still the values do not add up

They calculate 8.27 and 4.49. I calculate 8.53 and 4.54.

Been advised that the 1.25% is calculated using MCC of 5411, 9751, 5541, 5542, 9752, 5172

I suspect they round down to a whole penny for each transaction separately.

This will lose on average 0.5p per transaction.

Found out from MBNA this is how they calculate, very crafty of them and in their favour (but suppose to be expected)

It is calculated on individual transactions to four decimal places, cut off at 2 decimal places then added together for the the statement total
