Rough Estimate For Journey

Hi all,

I've asked an online taxi place for an estimate of a journey for approx 67 miles and as a non-driver I've no idea how much I might be looking at. (though I guess quite expensive and with many variables.)

Can anyone please tell me for a rough idea given petrol etc how much would I be possibly looking at for a journey of 67 miles from Meadowhall to Grimsby?

67 miles = £10 - £13 for just fuel depending on the car though. + 1 or 2 hours for the driver wage £10 per hour £20,
Plus runing costs approx 10p - 27p a mile.?

I think taxi's charge around £2/£3 a mile. Use that to negotiate?

If its too dear only option is bus/train/coach.

Taking running costs fo the car at 40p/mile then the journey will cost the taxi driver £54 (return) you will then have his time to pay for say 4 hours at say £10/hour.

So you will be looking at £80 - £120.

I do have a train booked for both ways (booked months in advance and a fiver each) and we will be getting the train there on the Thursday.

For the Friday I think we might have too much to comfortably manage by train so I'm hoping it will be around your estimate as it would be managable, much more and we'll have to struggle on the train with it If it's nearer Hintza's estimate then it's definitely the train back!
