One Week in Thailand

A few friends I are going to South East Asia at the end of February to visit a friend and plan to spend our second week in the region in Thailand.
I realise Thailand is a big place and one week is no where near enough to see all of it.
Consequently, I plan to spend time in one city (i.e. Bangkok or Phuket?) and also travel to one island.
Anyone been and able to offer advice?

If you like shopping make sure that you are in Bangkok on a Saturday or Sunday - there is an enourmous market near to Mo Chit BTS SkyTrain station. It is easy to find - Mo Chit is the very last station on the line. Plenty to see and do in Bangkok and the SkyTrain is a cheap and easy way to get round the City.
Google Bangkok Skytrain and you will find a map and info - buy a day ticket for cheaper travel.
Have been to Bangkok a few times and love the place - will be there again in middle of Feb and then again in May.0 -
If on Phuket, you will already be on an island.
As to advice, that depends on you and what you would like to see and do.0 -
IMHO a week is too long in Bangkok.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
