what size are you planning to get?0

Lcd is my favourite, the picture is that much sharper.0

Plasma tv's usually have very reflective screens - not so bad for a darker room.
LED seems to be the way forward with lower power use but there still seems to be a price premium.
Have a look at some tv's in stores - maybe not set up for best home use but you will get a better idea of how different types look.
A thin "razer" frame seems to be the newer look - look at old tv's on ebay and thick frames do look very dated.0 -
LCD with LED backlight is quite a nice compromise I find, between price and picture quality.0

I recently bought the one in the link below, really cannot fault it.Picture is brilliant & even the SD pictures look nearly HD quality.I can also connect my PC external HD to the TV & watch the films I've stored on it as well as listen to the music. The sound from the built in speakers is almost as good as that from my Teac surround sound system & the function buttons are also duplicated on the front as soft touch buttons

We have the 3D version of the TV in the link above and it is a very good picture, and the sound is good too. No problem if the room is bright, there's a setting for that, and there is a gaming mode too, and it is quite slim for a plasma. No regrets whatsoever. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My vote goes to LCD but then your hear many many different sides on here . .. .0

Too many variables to say which is "best", per se.
Plasma have the best pictures, owing to the contrast ratios available (dont believe the 10,000:1 or 30,000:1 or whatever figures, it's all BS) - when I say "best", this means most lifelike. What they dont have is super-sharp, oversatured crappy pictures that everyone seems to think in the shop look better - if your bananas looked day glow flourescent in real life, you wouldn't touch them!
Downside is image retention is still a pain in the backside for the first 100 hours or so, and apart from some of the better Panasonic sets (2011 generation and 2010 VT) they have reflective screens that does add problems in bright rooms.
LED/LCD are great for that "computer monitor" level of sharpness, and can be tweaked to generally give good, realistic pictures. They lack depth of image due to poor contrast ratios, and can suffer input lag if you're a gamer. They tend to be cheaper than decent plasmas, but this is probably more a function of where you shop for one. For the love of god though, turn down the sharpness- nothing looks pixelated in real life, and it just adds noise to the picture. Oh and ditch the neon colours!0 -
