Facebook privacy help

Options
Hello all

Facebook has changed it's privacy options recently and I can't seem to do what I used to do in certain circumstances.

I work as a youth worker, and some of the teens I work with like to add me on FB (Work is happy with this as long as I'm happy with it as ATM we do not have permission from the organisation to have our own FB page yet). It is a useful tool as they can contact me if they have an issue, and I can contact them to chase something up after I have finished working with them.

I used to be able to put them in a separate friend list and the settings for this list meant that all they could do was see my name, profile picture and send me messages. They could not see my wall, write on wall, see my pictures or my friends. Which is what I want.

However with the new changes I can't seem to do all of this. I've read through all the info but can't seem to find a way to block them from viewing all the above stuff.

Any pointers? Or am I just being dull and missing something?

Thanks in advance

Have you added them a group on their own?

Don't mix work and personal. I'm surprised your organisation hasn't banned it, as it leaves you in a position of risk. I would strongly advise against any kind of F/B account that the kids you work with can access. A work-related twitter account would probably work better.

If you really want to stick to Facebook, why don't you set up a 2nd account with just the details you want them to see on it. That way they won't see personal posts by you or your friends/family.

i agree with aboves post, make another facebook page for yourself and just have that for your teens u work with to contact u, so u can leave your personal one as personal.

Google+ seems like the right option for you as you can do exactly what you are wanting to do with facebook and more, you can make groups and circles so only certain people can see certain thing you post pictures etc, i can invite you if its not gone public yet if thats something you are interested in just pm me

Have you considered that some of the teens may have more than one Facebook account? The one you know about, and one or more you don't know about which may be in their own name or some other name? Are you sure you really know who owns the accounts that do have access to your wall etc.
