I have designed something and I want to get it patented how do I go about this

    Above is the website of some IP solicitors who frequent the https://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk and often give some free advice. Look at their website as there is a fair amount there and if not then you could post on the other forum and they or one of the other IP sols that visit will respond.

    Patenting is very long and difficult process with a fairly high failure rate
