Photo scanning - any one used a service?

Hi
I have a lot of photos of my kids when they were little I'd like to have scanned to jpegs so I can store them on the PC (and.... generally use them to embarrass the kids).

Has anyone used a scanning service - if so, any advice or tips that I should follow?

Many thanks

Wendy

Could be cheaper to buy youself a scanner if you have lots of pictures, something to do in the coming winter nights.

    Hi,
I asked the very same question about 2 months ago and in the end dug out my old Epson Scanner and used this software :-
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Data-Becker-Instant-Photo-Scanner/dp/B00014TDSA

You can pay for someone to do it and from the answers I got it appeared best to get them to scan your pics at 600 dpi (dots per inch)

Regarding the above software it is a little flakey but as long as you preview first it allows you to scan multiple pictures at once after you have 'shown' the software the individual pictures.

Have PM'd you with more detailed description of the software.

    All the best
