Grabbit - Book rail tickets by 19/01 for 25% discount

There are lots of cheap fares like this - if you book early. Try going to https://www.nationalrail.co.uk and from there you can see exactly what is available at what price, without signing up and without commitment. Train fares have had a lot of bad publicity because various assorted enemies (road lobbies, airlines, etc) love to fire cheap shots based on the most expensive business tickets. I'd pay more to go by train than suffer airports, check-in times, discomfort, luggage hassles and the environmental cost of flying anyway.lottee wrote:I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, £7.50 pp each way. Not sure if this is a 'normal' rate to everyone else, but I was gobsmacked!
There's an MSE article about all this already: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1154104247,31062,
My tip: for London to the West Country, try going from Waterloo via Salisbury, rather than from Paddington. It might take longer but might save a lot. Having said that, there are now some cheap tickets available from Paddington, which is a fairly new thing.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -

Had the same message. Spoke to an Indian lady who was most unhelpful and told me that it was my fault - cancel and redo. So I cancelled went through the same process AGAIN and once more had the same error message. AGAIN spoke to the same (or similar) unhelpful Indian lady who blamed it all on me - must have pressed something wrongly (????????). Cancelled again, went through the process for the third time.........and now there's no discount!
So Scotrail seems to have pulled the offer by messing up the payment/order site!!0 -

Many thanks - due to the fabulously timed arrival of conjunctivitis this morning, I had to reschedule a visit down to London to see my grandparents and was out of pocket courtesy of Easyjet's transfer fee
Even nicer to get a saving via Scotrail - I buy my season ticket to work from them every week, so it's great to avoid paying them full whack for once

gromituk wrote:Well yes and you always should (as with air tickets) - up to three months in advance, which is the extent of availability. This offer, however, is an additional discount on all purchases.
Oh, didn't realise that, sorry!~*Cerenia*~
