Can I simply just switch a pc on and off using the button ?....

.... Well, what I mean is... well exactly that really ! I've a machine upstairs in set up as the main pc which the other pc's around the house are are wirelessly linked to. This machine is not used other that this. I would prefer to not have a clumsy CRT on show, but understand that I need this to shut the machine down 'properly'. If I ditched the monitor would it harm the pc if I just switched it on and off using the front button each time instead ?
I know there is the option of moving the main NTL connection to another site or indeed buying a LCD monitor but I'm just after a 'quick fix' in the meantime.
Thanks for your help

Lol, I take the time to post and you go and delete the thread.
If you use the on/off switch to turn the PC off it will as I understand cause errors in your software as any running programs aren't being shutdown properly.
I only switch off with on/off button in emergencies.
Hope this helps"Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

If you set up your network correctly, you should be able to shut it down remotely. What operating system do you have on your main PC? In windows I think it can be done remotely by running "shutdown \\(computername) /y", but you may have to configure your network in a certain way for this to work correctly.0
