nice restaurants in Taunton

Not the chains but any good pubs and restaurants in Taunton? Going for a week self catering in October and would like a few places to try - cosy country pubs in particular

Just my opinion but :

The Sanctuary is the "best" restaurant in central Taunton- also the Castle Hotel. Neither particularly cheap but the food is good.

The Hankridge out by Sainsbury's towards the M5 motorway junction is also nice under the new managment. Very old pub with reasonable restaurant or you can eat in the bar area. Again not that cheap

My favourite though is the Bird in Hand at North Curry which is about 10/15 minutes drive out of the city. Ticks all the "quaint pub" boxes and good value food.
