Sams gardening mission 2007 (Updated)

Sammy - my littles are 2 and 3, the most popular thing we grew last year was cherry tomatoes. They strip the bushes clean every few days. I am going for gardeners delight in outdoor tubs as I dont have greenhouse anymore. Peas in their pods were also popular. Sweet peas are good for a nice bit of smell, dont take up much room and you can cut them for the flat as well. Sunflowers are cheerful and fast growing for little impatient people.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

Is the wall of your flat sunny? If so why not grow tumbling cherry tomatoes in your hanging baskets. We tried this for the first time last year and we got loads of fruit.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Hi all
Update for you all
i have finally decided what i am growing
my dead certs to try are
*carrots - chardeney (sp?) variety in container
*strawberries - yet to decide variety but not Elsanta (big herb urn/strawberry pot)
*peas - hurst green shaft have been highly recommended (up fence at bottom of garden/sunny patch)
*tomatoes - those tumbling toms (hanging basket)
i have been looking as well that the small area we have at the bottom of our garden that is walled in could hold a couple of rows of veg too so im thinking possibly swede and onions and if they need thinning then i will put them in additional pots.
Also tomorrow i will be venturing to town to pick up some weed membrane and will be digging up the dirt and old grass mess so it looks tidy then hopign i can sweet talk my mother in law into a trip to focus to grab a few bags of gravel as i wont need much - anything left over i will put in the bottom of the pots for drainage. Also, was told that instead of buying those ground pegs to hold the membrane down, try instead filling carrier bags with the dirt im removing and using them as weights.
Also my little boy Benjamin will be accompanying me on this trip adn we have the intention of picking out -
*one benjamin sized watering can (he already has a spade and rake)
*one pack of cress heads for Benjamin to grow
*one sunflower for Benjamin to grow
so he will be his grandads own mini alan titchmarsh! with a sunflower to prove it!Time to find me again0
