Sky - have ripped us off for nearly £100

UPDATE - looks like we have sorted this. Sky have accepted they should never have debited our account for the callout charge and have promised to refund us in the next two weeks. They have asked us to send in bank statements to prove that their mistake in debiting the account was the cause of the bank charges, which they will (hopefully) refund.
I'd like to report they have offered us half-price movies and sports for a year to make up for the trouble caused, but they haven't.0 -
Sky TV is the pinnacle of Luxuries.
Are you sure you should be funded such luxurious lavishes if you have so little spare cash ?
No disrespect intended but ALL debt is started by living beyond ones means.
You completely miss the point. They were living with in their means sky overcharged them.
Your not going to know till after the event they have double the charge.0 -
We have had the full package from Sky - HD, multiroom, sports, movies etc. - for years. We even signed up to Sky Protect for which we pay £9ish a month. More fool us.
A few weeks ago, we tried to order a film from Sky Box Office, but encountered an onscreen box saying we weren't connected to a phone line. I checked all the connections, but everything was plugged in, so we reported the fault to Sky, who sent an engineer. It took him about 2 minutes to fix whatever needed doing.

I had a similar issue with phone lines. I only had 1 phone line connection in the house.
A sky enginner came round and confirmed with sky we had the box.
we got over charges refunded.
Did not get a call out charge and I do not have the £9 repair services.
This was about 2 years ago.
We had a choice of getting a new phone line installed or running a cable to the room with the phone line or cancel second box.
There reason for doing this is. I could give my sky box to some else in the UK and they could watch all of sky programmes for only £10 a more. By making it go though the phone line (1 telephone number) they can stop this.0 -
Glad to report Sky have now refunded the bank charges we incurred because they charged us for the call-out. It took a while only because I was slow in providing them with bank statements.
No free Sky movies for 6 months or anything, though!0
