Welcome Finance from 2002

Thanks everyone for the advice on previous query re LLOyds TSB, forms went off last week.
In 2002 I was in a bad way credit wise and obtained a loan from Welcome Finance via Norton Financial Services. I recall at the time being sold PPI and Medicare which I didn't need, but it was strongly implied by the salesperson I needed it for the loan to pass. It was added as a single premium, and at the time I had full sickness benefits from my public sector employer.
This loan was ceared several years ago, but given their defaulting recently is there any way I could claim this ppi back?
I'm afraid I don't have any of the documentation, but have the reference number from my bank account direct debit payments.
Long shot I know, but they were a seriously bad company who ripped people off, so would love to get what's mine back from them if possible.

i got a letter this morning from WFS to say that they were going to give me over 4000 back for car finance from 2004, they are dealing with pre 2005 claims direct, not through FSCS so my advice is to write to them, although it does help if you have some documents. I still had my loan documents tucked away in a drawer so i was quite lucky. I have to say i am not going to rejoyce too soon as the letter i received is dated 12 september and states i have 21 days to give them my decision, i received the letter this morning and their offices are not open till monday... hmmmm, thats the 21 day deadline so it remains to be seen if i will actually get it! good luck & im sure someone else can give you more information.0

Thanks pipz, I sent off a letter and the questionnaire today so we'll see what they say. Not holding out much hope, but just paper and stamps wasted.0

If it was sold to you by Norton Financial Services it is them you will need to complain to, not Norton Finance.0

Thanks magpiecottage, have sent off the letter etc to WFS this morning though, so no doubt they'll write back and say that. Will wait til then to pass to Norton I think, as don't want two requests for one thing in at the same time.0
