    When Mervyn King confirmed on the BBC 10 o'clock news just now that it was unlikely that much of the £75billion would find its way to small businesses, Stephanie Flanders challenged him to 'think outside of the box'

    But he insisted that the best thing is to continue to trust the banks which already operate within our economic system

    I would really like to believe that his tongue was in his cheek, but it wasn't at all obvious
