In recent times, we have invaded Iraq, and bombed Libya. Our allies have committed limitless resources in order to kill a small number of terrorist leaders
All of this was/is to try to protect our 'position in the world'
So why do we continue to bow before the banks?
And why do so many posters on this website continue to debate the completely irrelevant issues of recession, deflation, economic growth etc etc?
As world leaders (financial as well as political) increasingly reveal their powerlessness, we really need to seriously consider our options

If we are powerless, what options do you suggest ?'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Do you mean that majority US owned company BP?
Tbh, couldn't give a t*ss about them. Missiles however are paid for with my tax money.0 -
And their tax money pays for your pension.
Not true in my case, but I appreciate the guesswork
I am sure many do rely on BP, but people have diversified for pension provision now. A few colleagues have gone down the B2L route. My BIL does have a SIPP but he dumped BP when the American spill happened.0 -

Now that is the sort of debate which would be seriously worth having
It is not we who are powerless, it is those who are slaves to the ideology of the city gangs (gang-like activity is not confined to city streets, it also takes place in city high-rise office blocks)
I have already suggested, on another thread, bringing the banks under central control and confiscating their assets - we could add it to the pot of assets which are confiscated from the likes of drug gangs etc, and put it towards the repair of our 'broken society'
Remember that some of the greatest names in history are remembered because they didn't listen when they were told that 'it will never work, it's impossible' - M. Thatcher is possibly just the most recent example, but, like Hannibal, later events have shown the downsides of her ideology

Banks are owned by pension schemes and funds that pension schemes invest with.
I'm not sure Government would make a better hash of allocating capital compared to Banks.
I'm open minded though, convince me, but be precise and do use broad brush coverall language. For example explain how the pensioners having part of thier assets confisgated would pan out.0 -

Are you suggesting that the banks currently feel any 'duty of care' towards pensioners?
