Bad times at work

Hi

I started this current job last November 1st.

They are having alot of problems at the moment and yesterday cut half the staff.

To be truthful I do not like the job much, it was more the people I liked there got on well with everyone, being in returns & complaints is not a good place to be. Is or was 2 people in returns and now looks like will just be me!

At the moment I am safe but not sure how long for.
Was told wages were ok for september, but next 2-3 weeks who knows.

I am right in saying under a year I would not get any redunancy pay?

Also I wanted to know, as someone mentioned it, if I was redundant when I went back on JSA would I start from the beginning, or would I start on month 7 the level of jobseekers I was on when got this job? Hope that made sense. I would not like to start at month 7 again.

Was tempted to say I will leave if you keep the lady next to me on, but I don't know what my position would be if I left.

I am on my own and pay rent.
I was thinking before after xmas looking for another job while at this one but now things have changed.

I am not having much luck the job before I was there 12 years before they closed down, and before that 6 years at another job before they made redundancies.

thanks

Shirley

You have to be employed for 2 years to qualify for redundancy payment.

I would jst hang on in there and look hard for another job.

If you had left the job to let someone stay on you could have been sanctioned for up to 28 ish weeks with
no money for leaving a job voluntarily, so its just as well you didnt.

And Welcome to the boards, by the way:D
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I believe that if they were formally offering voluntary redundancies and you volunteered and were accepted, you would not be sanctioned by the jobcentre for having left your job voluntarily. Provided the company were going to say you were redundant, that is still redundancy (and, of course, it could be less costly for the company as they don't have to pay redundancy to someone with less than two years' service).

As I understand it, if you lost your job on the grounds of redundancy or for any other reason and did not have a job to start immediately, you would be starting a completely fresh claim, not linked to the one which ended in October 2010.
