Any ideas for weekend in Perth

Options
Hi All,
We're having a cheapie couple of nights at the Travelodge in Perth this weekend. The weather looks as if it is going to be wet, possibly snow....so any suggestions as to what we can do, and remain as dry as possible? (A tall order, I know). Nothing too energetic please, we want to chill out! :D
Also, far too old to be going to disco's/night clubs......bedtime and cocoa by 10pm! Not quite, but prefer something a bit more sedate these days. :rotfl:
Any tips gratefully received, been a while since been through to Perth, hope Paco's is still there, remember having a lovely meal in there.

Am starting to get worried, every time I post on this board, it's always food related! :D

Thanks Highland, appreciate that. We will have the car with us. Also the Travelodge is just beside the park'n'ride, so we have the option of the car or the bus.

Anne-Marie, I work in Perth and live 15 mins away! So, regards eats - myself & partner actually had a really nice meal in a french restaurant in the City Square, Cafe Tabou. Brennans is just along the road from it, in St Johns Street, I don't know how old you are but if you're over 21 then it's more of a grown-up pub if you like. I honestly don't know if Pacos is still there, I don't remember seeing it, and I'm in Perth at least a couple of times a week! Parklands is a lovely hotel, on the South Inch, it was the first place me and my partner went for dinner in many years ago! I don't know what's on at Perth City Hall this weekend, but there's often concerts, plays, etc - and Perth has a theatre in the centre of town. PM me if you need any further help, by this time of night my brain is a bit mashed from work! It's pretty wild weather up here tonight, but if it's nice at the weekend drive to Kinnoull Hill and take a walk up there. Afternoon tea at Gleneagles is only 15 mins drive away, or there's places like Ballathie House (just along the road from me!) for afternoon tea. In fact, you can come and help me decorate my house this weekend if you're stuck for ideas! Seriously have a good weekend, Perth's a great little place, good shops, good places to visit as you've got a car within 15 mins drive, if you're adventurous go up the A9 to House of Bruar - the Harrods of the North - and you get the most amazing lunches there, and buy some cashmere!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks for the most generous invite Alyth....but think we'll decline this time! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks Highland & Alyth for all the suggestions and the link, plenty ideas there to be going on with. Completely forgot all about the House of Bruar - he's going to kill me if I take him there, think will suggest a nice wee run, with me driving! ;) Alyth am well past 21, double it and you're not far off the mark! A walk up Kinnoull Hill, in this weather! :rotfl: Would get blown halfway to Edinburgh! Mind you, will probably need the exercise after all the eating I'm planning on!

How am I going to fit all these eateries into a couple of days?

Thanks both again, plenty of suggestions to keep us going. Appreciate your time.

Scone PAlace is lovely, although this might be a bit late for you to see it.

We stayed there just before xmas and had a great time. There is a brewers fayre next door. Not everyones cup of tea but the food was lovely. Even my hubbie who usually moans thought it was nice.
The park and ride is fab!! Just £1 each return which is great.

We went Christmas shopping and just wandered about really but it was lovely. There is a cinema just at the bus stop in perth which is nice.

    I'm very jealous--we love Perth :)

So Anne-Marie, how was your weekend, in Perth, did you have a nice time? I might have passed you as I spent 3 hours wandering around Perth waiting for my car to be fixed yesterday afternoon! I'm interested to know, where did you eat and what did you do on Sat evening?

Thanks all for your suggestions............hang head in shame, didn't get round half as much as we (read that as I), planned to, but we did have a great time.
Arrived late Friday afternoon, we were whacked, so ate at the Brewers Fayre
    just at the hotel.
Alyth, we must have passed each other on Saturday..........I was the one wrapped up for the Arctic with the long green coat! We walked for miles all round Perth centre and down by the river. Water was running very fast and was quite high. It was such a nice sunny day though, which we weren't expecting, however, it was a tad chilly!
We used the park & ride bus - that was really handy and as elainew said, just £1 return - what a bargain.

Did a wee spot of shopping in the town centre....can't do much shopping with OH, need a girlie weekend for that one. However, had a lovely wee experience in Boots. Needed some No 7 lip stuff, so asked if it was 3 for 2, it was, so wanted 3. Assistant asked if I had any vouchers on the go at the moment, I didn't, so she said I would get one in a minute. Lady behind me gave me hers, and then I could give her mine! What a lovely gesture. Anyway, got 3 lip moisturisers for £11 when should have been £24. Also got £3 voucher off hair stuff...and did give the lady behind me my £5 voucher off NO 7 stuff for her to use on her shopping. Thanks to that nice lady again, what a lovely gesture to a complete stranger.

We ended up eating at the Filling Station on Saturday night. Didn't know that Perth had one, and discovered it on our travels. I'm a sucker for fajitas and all that spicy stuff. :D

By the time we got organised to leave on Sunday, rain had come on, and Mr AM wasn't feeling so good.......possibly due to an over-indulgence in the beverages that Perth had to offer. So had to forego the House of Bruar and head home..........but, we'll be back! ;)

Glad to hear you had a good time Anne_Marie, I'd forgotten about the Filling Station, when I worked in Perth years ago I used to go there for lunch! We probably did pass each other as I had to trail round Perth for 3 hours waiting for my little car to be repaired!

And the incident in Boots just goes to show what lovely people live in Perth! What a nice thing for her to do though, and don't worry about House of Bruar, I'll go and pay it a visit for you, with OH's bonus which he came home and announced tonight!
