HSBC PPI claim, work for NHS

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

In 2005 I took out a loan to clear credit card debts and in 2007 readjusted the loan for more money. I took out PPI for these loans. In February 2011 I'd nearly finished paying the loan off and took out another to buy a new car of which there is no ppi.

I believe I didn't qualify for PPI as I work for the NHS, full pay for six months and half pay for the second six months. Plus the Trust operates a non redundancy policy, offering two post choices if my post becomes defunct, which I believe is the same for the NHS throughout the country, could be wrong though.

Does anyone who works for the NHS have successful claims on this basis?

I've sent the forms from this forum to the HSBC claims dept with a copy of the loan agreement on both. Hopefully I've filled them in properly, although I couldn't find the policy number anywhere.

Another question is I've got a credit card with HSBC and a car loan with HSBC, so should my claim be successful will the money be used to clear my credit card, overdraft and whatever's left go into the loan, all decided by HSBC?

Hope that all made sense,

Elfed

You'll probably be sucessful, the FOS would likely take the position that the PPI was inappropriate for you and had you been fully informed at point of sale would not have taken it out. HSBC will know that the FOS would probably find in your favour so I doubt they'll fight you much and simply uphold your complaint.

If the loan the PPI was on is already settled, then they ought to give you the redress directly, I don't see how the could apply it to other debts not strictly related.

    Good luck :)

Thanks for that Jim, hopefully I've filled the forms in correctly so I'm crossing my fingers.
Judging by other posts I take it I could be waiting 12 weeks for a reply?
    Thanks,

When you receive your offer you will get a form that you can fill in with the bank account details that you want the money paid into (can be any bank as long as the account is in your name).

They have no right to offset the money against other lending - the premise of this whole thing is that its your money, they never should have taken it and that's why they are paying it all back plus interest. Of course the MSE way would be to use it to clear your debts - that's exactly what I'm doing!

    Good luck :)

I received a letter from HSBC yesterday saying that they've received my complaint and will start investigating. I suspect it's a stock letter.

In the letter they've enclosed an FOC questionnaire to fill out, in the letter saying that if I hadn't already to fill it out. I filled in two questionnaires with my initial complaint, same form. Do you think I need to fill this in again or will the first ones still be ok?

I ignored this letter, I think it's standard.

Just read my post, doesn't make much sense, lol. I've tried to call the telephone number that's provided in the letter but it's either engaged or no answer, just want verification over the form provided.

    Thanks,

I rang them once, I had to sit there hitting redial for about 5 minutes before it rang.

Well, couldn't get through today, I'll try again tomorrow, although I'm sure I don't need to re send that form.

I've now sent them a fax as the phone is either engaged or no answer.
I get the impression that there's only a couple working there.
Anyone else know if I need to resend these forms?
    Thanks

If they are the same forms you initially sent you don't need to resend them. I got them too, it must be their standard response. I ignored them and put it out of my mind until one day I got the refund.
