Laptop going off when I close lid....

I have the correct options set, to Do Nothing when lid closed, whether or not plugged in. I haven't changed anything so am assuming it's happened as part of an upgrade, but I can't understand why the power is going off when the settings clearly say Do Nothing?

I use it as a desktop as the monitor is a better height etc so at the mo I have to balance it further along the desk with the lid ajar, rather than the (lightweight!) monitor sitting on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you change the setting to "Do nothing" for both Battery and Plugged-in?

Is the laptop really closing down or is the laptop display just turning off (which is what you want since you have a separate monitor).

    Yes, I've changed for both.

It does close down - the monitor shows the lappy screen for a mo then shows it black, same as the lappy :(

  • There's a weird fix for this problem - don't know if it will work for you but try it out.

Basically when you go to turn the settings to 'Do Nothing', take password protection off, then Apply the settings. Wait minimum of 10 seconds (don't move the mouse) then move it afterwards and your monitor should wake up.

How weird. How wonderful :j (she says, sitting here typing with the laptop shut :))

    Many thanks :)
