raising money for an individual?

Hi
I am sorry if this is in the wrong place, didnt know where else to put it
I am hoping someone may be able to help me, My daughter is having her hair cut and donating it to little princesses - a charity that makes wigs for kids with cancer.
She came up with an idea last week of trying to get people to sponsor her to cut her hair and she would like to donate this money to one of her friends little brothers who has been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. She was hoping to set up an online donations page like just giving, virgin money etc but we have realised that they only allow you to do it for a registered charity.
Does anyone know of a similar thing that allows you to collect sponsors for an individual???

It's a bit unclear who your daughter is raising money for. If it is a registered charity, like Little Princesses, then she ( or you!) can contact them directly and they will have someone who can explain how to set up the justgiving page for them.
I would be very careful about raising money for an individual. If it is a very small group of people who want to give a gift to the little boy, or perhaps money for a family day out, it can work. But it is very easy for these things to get unmanageable, for stories about how the money was used to circulate, and can cause problems.
Many families with a child a who has a chronic disease such as MD find they get a lot of support from the local branch of the society, and can get their friends to fund raise for that, which will then benefit them.0 -
Found this site the other night (while looking at croudfunding tips), it's similar to having a justgiving page but with the donations going to the page owners paypal. http://gofundme.com/
eta: they take 5% of every donation.
eta: or you can use chipin for free http://www.chipin.com/overview They provide pages with a blog for free now as well as the donation box widget to add to your own site."And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -

As #2 explains, this is likely to lead to all sorts of problems.
Another thought: sadly, no amount of money will cure the little boy.0 -
