Playing HDTV on my laptop

I have a dell xps m1710 with t7200 cpu , 1 gb ram and 7900gtx.

I downloaded the simpsons 1080p trailer and tried to play it on my laptop with windows media player and it dosent play proprely, when I double click the file the front of the preview comes and after that ot just dosent play.

If I click on the bar ( u know that bar at the bottom that shows how much of that file has been
played) to a farther point it plays for a few seconds and stops again.

Can anyone help me out please.

Cheers.

I use VLC player. Try that.

    It is free.
  • Thnx for the quick reply mate, already tried that and cyberlink powerdvd hd version to no avail.
  • Doesnt media player download the codecs etc for you? failing that try media player classic, and install FFDshow which has codec support - thats what i've got installed and HD stuff plays on my pc

OK, post a link to the Simpsons file and I will download it and see if I can play it.

Hmm.. a lot of the videos I download are HDTV, but they seem normal quality to me, do you think if I download a patch it would change? I'm not on dual core though so not sure what patch I'd need.
