new 7" netbook

My friend has set my net book up but is now away on holiday.

Connected to wifi okay, good signal, connected to SKY45604,(preferred) but when I hit the Internet Explorer up comes Google with a box in front of it saying

Internet Exp cannot open the internet site http etc. google.co.uk.
could not complet theoperatin due to error 80004004.
There is the odd occasion when it doesnt come up but its 98% of thetime coming up.
Any ideas please or I;ll be going to bed bald.

have you tried turning off the wireless router for a minute and then back on ??

No, tried that.

I can get round it (ive found) it at the moment by hitting the okay button when it says it cant find it, then when it says
'cannot display the webpage re dns not found then if i hit the back button the google page then clears and I can use it.

My SIL has gone to Egypt for a week after initially setting it up and if i cant get a solution without all the faff, he can sort it out for me when he gets back.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated though

two options.

1. try clearing IE cache, history, cookies etc.
2. forget about IE. it's not very good anyway. Download
   • Firefox- http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
   • Chrome- http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-GB/landing_tv.html

IE is full of errors and bugs.

History, cookies are non existent, I just got it today lol

I'll try the download links, Ive had IE for years on this computer and never had a problem really

I'm a golden oldie, it's all very technical to me bt I'm trying, as my OH would say 'Im very trying' lol.
