Firefox startup problem

I recently 'upgraded' to version 2 of Firefox, and now on the first occasion each day that I start it, I get this page:
[IMG][/img]
It is asking me if I want to install the British/English dictionary, which I do, and then restart I Firefox to complete the installation. But I still keep getting the same page when I start Firefox! Any ideas why? I have 4 sites set as my homepage, but surely this can't be affecting it?

uninstall then reinstall
your bookmarks etc should remain as they are stored separately from the application0 -
Isn't it just remembering the last tabs you had open?
Try clicking the X shown in the active tab, then close and reopen FF.0 -
I agree whith Chippy_Minton0

tools/ options / have a look what is showing as your homepage0

FF remembers the tabs you had open when you close it, so there's no need to have your home page set as 4 sites. Just set the home page as one site.
If the page is reappearing when you restart the PC, it looks like you'll have to remove and reinstall Firefox, or fix a corrupted profile folder - see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder0 -
OK thanks Chippy, I'll give it a go tomorrow.0

Hmm. It didn't work. I uninstalled FF, re-booted the PC and then re-installed FF. And I still get the same problem. I have also discovered now that by closing and re-opening FF the problem goes away, but if I log off of Windows and then log back on (without re-starting) the problem comes back again.
I have set my home page to be the default which it accepts, and when re-starting FF it all seems OK, until I log on again the next time, when it all happens all over again.
I am now wondering if this is a problem with my user profile. And I am also thinking of contacting the official FF support forum.0 -
Yes, it could be a corrupted profile, and the FF install is picking up the existing profile.
Either delete the profile folder altogether before reinstalling FF or rename it and move the files to the new profile folder created by FF when you do a clean install - see the link I posted earlier for the files you need.0 -
Hi Chippy
I finally got around to following your advice and it worked. I created a new FF profile, tested it to make sure it worked without my original problem recurring, then copied the contents of my original profile into my new profile. And it's all back to normal. So many thanks for your help.
