Homemade Gift Wrap

Today my DD and I started making our own gift wrap and I really wanted to share as I think it is very old style.

Last week I received an amazon order with a lot of brown paper in it, so instead of recycling it I thought I would try and re issue it.

Today we were sorting out a few toys in DD's bedroom and came across a play rings heart shaped box (no rings in as they are stored else where). The box was very pretty so took out the sponge insert and suddenly thought what a good stamp it would make.

So I ironed the brown paper and got the paint out and started on our homemade gift wrap. We used the heart shaped sponge, did hand prints and finger prints. We used yellow and red paint and then mixed them to make orange. DD is only 5 (off school as she has been poorly) and she really loved doing it. Got lots of birthdays coming up for litlle friends so we shall be using it for them. Thinking of doing some Christmas Paper too, if I get anymore with any deliveries that I might get.

We have done this before for xmas and I have also done it waith all the children I mindee. I have found stamps in the pound shop. Ink is also better then paint as it dries quickly. We have brought the brown paper from wilkos for under a pound, so we done some and then rolled it up before doing some more. The presents looked lovely in them.

Wallpaper liner paper is good too. You can also use potatoes cut into shapes to save money on buying stamps if you don't already have them.

Last year I made my own wrapping paper, I covered an A3 page with family photographs and then photocopied it. It made great paper for grandparents etc, they loved it

When it was my aunt's 60th we cut out loads of Coronation St things from tv magazines that we'd been saving for a bit and pasted them all on a3 pieces of paper and then had it scanned and printed out at staples (not at all expensive, think it was 75p? If that?) and used the photocopies to wrap. She loved it and couldn't peel the paper off carefully enough

I made my Christmas wrapping paper when the children were 2yrs and 3yrs covering brown paper with red and green hand and foot prints (theirs not mine!) grandmas adored it carefully unwrapping the present and keeping the paper,which 7 years later they still have.

I also do this, we buy the large roll of posting brown paper from Poundland, we wrapped ALL of our gifts, (including 3 little boys spoiled xmas's) with 1 roll. x

We've also been collecting the brown paper that Amazon uses to pack out their boxes. We simply fold it over on its perforation lines and save it for Christmas presents for the kids.

If anyone else is from Cornwall and wants some Cornish gift tags we got ours from the AllThingsCornish Facebook page. Printable Cornish gift tags which we print out on the home printer and then tie on with string.
