Sorry probably a silly question. Do payments stop when my youngest starts school? Or will i have to phone and tell them he starts school or will they know already?
Will i lose all of the working tax credit element?
Thanks in advance

You will need to call them and do a change of circs, if this is your only child all you should lose is the childcare element0 -
thanks for your reply, my eldest is already at school.
I guess ill call the day my childcare fees stop.
thanks again0 -
you still get it for 4 weeks after her childcare stops

You are supposed to call them the day the child finishes the childcare, they do a 4 week run on.
Why are you still paying for childcare if your child is in school?0 -
You have 1 month to tell them about changes to childcare0

Well they should do.
that is absolutely correct, you get 4 weeks from when the childcare ended. If it takes you 4 weeks to tell them, then in essence it will stop straight away0 -

Lots of people still pay for childcare even though their child has started school - unless of course they have a job that's school hours and term time only

Probably because in the grand scheme of things, there are few jobs available that are school hours and term time only, and not many people tend to leave 5 year olds at home alone when they work outwith school hours.
I work office hours 8:30 till 5pm - that still runs out with school hours; in addition I have a commute. Would you suggest that because my children are school age that I can leave them at home without a responsible adult for 1 and 1/2 hours in the morning before school starts and for 3 1/2 hours after school finishes?0
